Developers were relying on Disney Infinity selling well in a tough market, and it looks like the folks at Avalanche and Disney Interactive can relax a little. First month sales figures are suggesting the game did better than expected – and it’s now positioned very nicely going into the holiday season.
A Disney spokesperson told GamesIndustry the magic number is 294. That’s how many thousand starter packs were sold in the US alone, during just the first two weeks of August. Globally, it’s a similar story, making the company “very pleased”.
The game’s popularity means Disney is walking a knife-edge. Gamers are complaining that the figures, discs and playsets they want are sold out in many retailers. It is unknown just how long they’ll wait.
