League of Legends has claimed another scalp – the former Lead Game Designer of EVE Online. Kristoffer Touborg, who’s been working on the space MMO for half a decade, is officially moving from Iceland to Ireland, where he’ll work with Riot Games on the popular eSports title.
Touborg shared the news via Facebook, explaining that “it’s been an incredible five years”:
I feel a bit lucky that I get to work on not just one of my favorite games, but two of them. I don’t think I could have asked for anything more and it’s pretty humbling to go from one love to another. A few years ago, my overwhelming interest was the EVE universe; now it’s League of Legends and the competitive scene there. To everyone at CCP, it’s been wonderful and I would happily do it all over again. To everyone at Riot, I’ll see you soon.
Originally from Denmark, Touborg started at CCP as a lowly tester, moving his way up through the ranks to Lead Game Designer. Apparently, after five years, “It’s time to try something new”. At this stage, we don’t know what position he’ll be stepping into at Riot, but given his ambition and passion, we’re guessing Touborg won’t be starting at the bottom again.
