Steam Greenlight adds 100 more games

It looks like Steam is doing some housecleaning, as it streamlines the Steam Greenlight service. While games have been greenlit in fits and starts over past months, today we have had a sudden influx of 100 new titles.

Steam Greenlight

Hundreds of them!

This means that we’re looking at 260 games that have been offered worldwide publishing deals via Steam since the project started – and there’s still plenty more on the way.

Alden Kroll, UI designer at Valve explains in a blog post that the team is using this mass influx of games as a way of stress-testing the system:

The best way to accomplish this is to invite a significant number of developers to use the updated tools and systems, ship their games and software with these tools, and to give us feedback so that we may continue to improve the process.

We’re happy to report that there is a significant chunk of Aussie games in this batch – great to see some more local developers getting their work recognised!

Remember, of course, that while all of these games have made it through this far, it does not mean that they are necessarily ready for full release any time soon. It just means that when they are released, you’ll be able to pick ’em up via the Steam digital distribution service, which is always kinda handy.
