F.E.A.R. Online gets detailed scares

More details have emerged for F.E.A.R. Online, the upcoming free-to-play release in development at Korean studio Inplay Interactive. While it’s being developed and published by an all-new team, the new game does promise the legitimate “next chapter” for the horror FPS that terrified us all.

To kick things off properly, the studio has launched the official F.E.A.R. Online website, which is packed with details on maps, controls, modes, and the all-important storyline.

Armacham Technology Corporation has continued with its “unsettling” experiments, and it’s up to the First Encounter Assault Recon task force (that is, F.E.A.R.) to find out what’s going on. While earlier games in the franchise selected one or two characters to follow, F.E.A.R. Online instead broadens the spotlight to the all-out war between the task force and the ATC security personnel.

Team-based combat will take the forms of traditional favourites like team deathmatch and demolition, but you can expect a few unique modes thrown in as well – like Soul King mode from F.E.A.R. 3, Escape mode, and a brand new Armored Front mode that features the inevitable mechs.

Pick a side, and join in some competitive team combat – and keep your eyes peeled. There’s a few familiar faces still lurking around the base.

F.E.A.R. Online will be free to play, and launches later this year.
