Grand Theft Auto 5 given R18+ in Australia

Ladies and gentlemen of Australia, the wait is over: Grand Theft Auto V has been officially granted an R18+ rating, meaning adults Down Under will happily be able to buy one of the year’s most eagerly-anticipated titles without any drama.

Predictably, the latest game from Rockstar ticks all the boxes when it comes to strong impact: Michael, Franklin and Trevor’s adventures include adult themes, violence, language, nudity and sexual references or scenes. In case you were concerned about the in-game drug use, it seems that the new R18+ rating is doing its job: “High impact” drug use would have been enough to earn the game a ban as recently as last year, but in 2013 means that it simply gets a Restricted rating and we’re good to go.
