Grand Theft Auto IV has been in the best-seller charts almost continuously since it first hit shelves back in 2008, and Take-Two has just confirmed that all of those sales add up to a pretty big number after five years.

In a quarterly earnings call, company CEO Strauss Zelnick said the magic number: GTA4 has sold up to 25 million copies in its lifetime.
…and while that number is plenty impressive, nearly half of those units were sold in its first month, with 11 million fans rushing out to buy the game hot off the presses.
Developer Rockstar is, of course, hoping that Grand Theft Auto V will follow this trend when it launches on September 17th. So far, analysts seem convinced things will play out as expected: According to figures recorded since E3 in June, GTA5 is the third-most pre-ordered game in the world today.
And yet, there’s still no PC version in sight.
