It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from the F.E.A.R. franchise, but Alma Wade is back. This time around, you’re invited to take a friend or two (or more) – F.E.A.R. Online is a brand new, free-to-play online game on the way from Aeria Games and Inplay Interactive.
Tom Nichols, Vice President of PC Games at U.S. publisher Aeria Games explains:
We are thrilled to present the next entry in one of the most popular horror franchises of the last decade. F.E.A.R. Online will bring back the tense, heart-pounding action that the series is known for and make it accessible to a huge online community of competitive players.
We’re promised “hardcore multiplayer shooting action” from the new game, which focusses on team combat modes. Ten maps have been smeared with blood and dotted with still-twitching bodies (hanging from meat hooks, no less), as the battle continues to rage between Armacham Technology Corporation and the elite F.E.A.R. team.
Soul King mode from F.E.A.R. 3 makes a comeback: Possess your enemies to unlock new abilities, and use that to collect more souls than your opponents.
If you’d prefer a little co-operative action rather than competitive, F.E.A.R. Online has you covered there too. New scenarios set in the same time period as F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin shed a little more light on what the F.E.A.R. team endured. Up to four players are invited to team up and fight for their lives – be careful though, Armacham personnel lurk around every corner (and that’s not mentioning the mutated monsters!).
Want in on this? You shouldn’t have to wait too long. F.E.A.R. Online will be free-to-play and free to download when it launches, and if you want to get in now, hop over to FEAROnline.AeriaGames.com to sign up for the closed beta.
