We haven’t heard anything about Agent since it was announced way back at E3 2009, but developer Rockstar Games has just renewed the trademark, suggesting that something is still happening on the spy project.
At the time, we were promised a PlayStation 3 exclusive. Agent would be set amid the Cold War days of the 70s, a “paranoid journey” around the world, wading through political assassinations, counter-intelligence and espionage.
The game was announced, unexpectedly, in the middle of the Sony Media Briefing in 2009, but we’ve not seen many signs of life since. Rockstar reassured fans the game was “still in development” in mid-2011, but it’s been almost total radio silence since.
Today’s revelation sees Rockstar‘s parent company Take-Two Interactive registering two new trademarks for Agent. Both trademarks (one, two – display requires a new search session) refer to various printed materials such as manuals and guidebooks, as well as video games (online or off) and computer games.
While “Agent” is a fairly generic title, the trademark filings refer specifically to the title’s logo, including “the shape of a handgun comprising the internal section of the letter ‘G’.”
Even though we don’t know what’s actually happening with the project, we do know the logo remains the same.
