StarCraft II offers fans one free name change

Play StarCraft II? Regret the name you chose when you started playing? Now’s your chance to start afresh. Blizzard has awarded all StarCraft II accounts with one free name change – all you need to do is log in to Battle.net account management and select your SC2 game license from the drop-down list.

Then, simple matter of finding the Character Name Change option at the bottom of the license screen (whoever would have expected that?!), selecting the region where you’d like to use the name change, and then clicking – wait for it – the “Use Name Change” button.

Make sure you’ve got a good name in mind – then log into SC2 and type it in!

Blizzard explains that free name changes like this do not stack:

Today’s name change will replace any unused name changes that were previously available for your account. We’re also re-evaluating our approach to the name change process internally in order to offer free name changes much more frequently going forward. We’ll have more details on this at a later date.

…but for now, you’ve got the opportunity to make a change to your online persona – if that’s something you’d like to do. If not, move along, nothin’ to see here…
