Company of Heroes 2 strategically invades PC

If you’re not a mad-keen RTS fan, Company of Heroes 2 might have slipped under your radar. Truth is, it shouldn’t. The military strategy title hits shelves today, with a new publisher at the helm.

Set to keep old-school fans happy, Company of Heroes 2 continues many of the traditions set in the original game, but developer Relic has also tucked in a number of unique changes.

It is 1941 and the beginning of what will become the most brutal conflict of World War II, as Germany launches a full-scale invasion of the frozen tundra of the Soviet Union which would result in over 14 million military casualties. Take command of the iconic Soviet Red Army in brutal frontline warfare to free Mother Russia from the invading Nazis. Your strategic skills and tactical expertise hold the power to tip the very balance of this conflict in the sequel to the critically acclaimed and multi award-winning Company of Heroes. Engage in visceral tactical combat that will define you as a military leader and challenge you to wield the might of the Soviet Empire as you smash your way to Berlin.

Relic was one of the first franchises picked up following the demise of parent company THQ. Surprisingly, Sega snapped up the RTS developer and the Company of Heroes franchise, putting them comfortably under the same roof as Creative Assembly and the Total War franchise.

Seems the company best known for publishing a bright blue hedgehog is strengthening its relationship with significantly more grown-up releases.

Company of Heroes 2 is out today, exclusively for Windows PC.
