Square Enix took the stage during the Sony‘s press conference to announce Final Fantasy XV. However we have seen this before but as Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Confirming that the project was not cancelled but expanded to take advantage of the power inside the next generation of consoles.
Consoles being the key word here. Originally Versus XIIII was slated for a PS3 exclusive. This is no longer the case as it has been announced that both that Xbox One and Playstation 4 will receive Final Fantasy XV in 2014. It was also revealed that the team behind Versus XIII are still working on Final Fantasy XV, with more being added where needed.
I’d like to remind you that even for us it’s a huge amount of joy that we were finally able to announce Final Fantasy XV. Well, everyone is talking about the next-gen consoles at this year’s E3. FFXV is being developed with a tool called Direct X 11. With this tool it’s possible to port the title to various hardware. Following yesterday’s announcement [for PS4] we would like to announce that we are porting Final Fantasy XV to Xbox One as well.
Isn’t too surprising to see Final Fantasy XV coming to both consoles but with the release time only next year, will we see the project halted yet again? Some of us have been waiting since the project was announced in 2006. Here is hoping it all goes to plan and we can finally enjoy all that is Final Fantasy XV.
