One of the biggest cats has been let out of the E3 bag, with a prematurely-released magazine spilling details on Respawn Entertainment‘s first game. Named Titanfall, the first-person shooter shattered expectations of exclusivity, with versions currently in development for PC and Xbox One, with an Xbox 360 version outsourced to an additional developer.
The leak came from next month’s copy of Game Informer magazine, which was scheduled for release next month, after publisher EA was able to make the big reveal (anticipated to be a feature point in Monday’s keynote conference).
We’re now told the game will focus pretty heavily on multiplayer, with dedicated servers doing all the heavy lifting when it comes to AI bots, physics calculations and intuitive matchmaking. The Source Engine does all the work behind-the-scenes on your home machine. Plus, there are giant mechs, which you’ll be battling both inside and outside.
Jason West and Vince Zampella formed Respawn Entertainment after being notoriously fired from Infinity Ward. Earlier this year, Jason West stepped down from the company for family reasons, shortly before news came to light that Respawn had trademarked “Titan” for use on gaming projects.
