PopCap has finally revealed just what it’s up to with Plants vs. Zombies 2. The eagerly-anticipated sequel is headed to iOS – that is, iPhone, iPad and iPod touch – around the world on July 18th. And… it’s completely free!
Plants vs. Zombies 2, lives up to its subtitle, It’s About Time, as you defend your brainz from zombies who shuffle towards you through the vast reaches of time – both past and future.
While the game’s promising to be pretty impressive straight out of the (virtual) box, PopCap is also promising ongoing updates, including new worlds, levels, plants, zombies and ways to play.
This time around, Plants vs. Zombies 2 has been developed specifically for mobile devices, with nifty touch-screen power-ups that allow you to interact directly with the undead.
Allen Murray, Senior Producer for Plants vs. Zombies 2 explains:
It’s about time! We’re confident that players will see the love and attention we’ve put into this game. We’ve created wild new ways to experience the plants and zombies you know and love as well as packing the game with tons of completely new content, and we’re still hard at work coming up with even more cool stuff that will keep Plants vs. Zombies 2 fresh and evolving in the months and years following launch.
In case that price tag concerns you, we’re told the “vast majority of the game” will be free to play. That means, if you’d like to pick up upgrades or other in-game items, those purchases may set you back a little real-world money. But if you’d rather not, every zombie, every level and every world in Plants vs. Zombies 2 is freely accessible at no cost to you.
