It turns out that when Rayman Legends arrives (belatedly) in August, we’ll be getting an extra version of the game to play on the go. Ubisoft has officially confirmed that developers are also working on a copy for PlayStation Vita, with a bunch of extra content.
Rayman Legends was originally planned as a Wii U exclusive, due out in February of this year, but was then expanded out with versions for Xbox 360 and PS3 delaying the release to August. You can relax – it seems this new platform will not push release day back any further.
Instead, the Vita version of Rayman Legends brings with it five exclusive new maps, played using the rear touch pad as the character Murphy. There’s also two exclusive character skins thrown in as well – if you ever wanted to see Rayman as Prince of Persia or Globox as Splinter Cell‘s Sam Fisher, now’s your chance.
As well as all that, there’s both local and online multiplayer, international leaderboards and most of the other nifty bits and pieces we expect in the home console editions when Rayman Legends hits Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and Vita on August 29th in the U.S., and August 30th in Europe.
