How much is too much to pay for a collector’s edition? $200? $500? How about $189,000? That’s the price tag attached to a very special Mono Edition of Grid 2. You get a copy of the game, a PlayStation 3 to play it on, as well as a custom race suit, Bell Racing helmet, gloves and boots. And then there’s the customised BAC Mono race car thrown in as well, the $154,000 vehicle bumping the price up a bit.
This isn’t a replica or a scale model. This is a full-size, road-legal performance car. A 2.3 litre, 280bhp four-cylinder engine that’ll do 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds and tops out at 170mph. Made of carbon fibre, this isn’t quite the sort of thing you’d take to the shops, but it’s still a pretty sweet drive.
Unsurprisingly, the Mono Edition of Grid 2 is now labelled the Most Expensive Special Edition Video Game Commercially Available, thanks to Guinness. The one-of-a-kind offer is available only in the UK, where it’ll officially set you back £125,000. The car and racing gear are all appropriately Grid 2-themed, and the prize also includes a day at the BAC factory.
Want it? Grid 2 is available for pre-order right now in a number of different configurations. If this one’s a little out of your price range, we’re sure you can pick up just the game – on PS3, Xbox 360 or PC – for a little less. You won’t miss out completely – the BAC Mono is still fully driveable in-game!
