Dawngate: EA's new MOBA accidentally revealed

EA really are bringing out the big guns this week, with the revelation the publisher is working on a new multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game, named Dawngate. Whether or not the announcement was meant to happen is unknown, with the game’s website mysteriously appearing overnight.

Our first look at Dawngate

Our first look at Dawngate

Dawngate is a new MOBA, built from the ground up to look and feel familiar while offering a whole new way to experience MOBA gameplay. Dawngate empowers you to forge the champions you love for the roles you want in a competitive arena, shaped by ever-evolving, community-driven content and story.

The page was first discovered by eagle-eyed internet sleuth Superannuation, who has a tendency to find these things.

Obviously, we don’t know much about Dawngate at this stage. It’s in the works at Waystone Games, who describe themselves as a bunch of “sincere students of games” setting out to mark “a road worth travelling”.

What you can do now: Not much! A beta test is obviously in the works. The forums aren’t yet functional, the Twitter account is bizarrely silent, and the YouTube channel is empty.

We’re still waiting for an official Dawngate reveal – potentially next month? – and more details. It’s unknown yet whether the game will join the already-crowded free-to-play MOBA market (dominated by both Dota 2 and League of Legends), or try something new.
