Scribblenauts Unmasked has 2,000 DC characters

In news seemingly crafted to make Player Attack squeal, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has confirmed the development of Scribblenauts Unmasked. It’s the latest in 5TH Cell‘s ridiculously good draw-your-own-adventure series, this time with a heapin’ helpin’ of DC Comics thrown in to boot.

Maxwell and sister Lily disagree over who is greater – Batman or Superman – so Maxwell gets out his magic notebook to find out! We’re promised thousands of DC bits and pieces – all drawn in the iconic Scribblenauts style – and 2,000 of those will be characters. Head to Gotham City, Metropolis and Atlantis, plus many other iconic locales, as Maxwell steps up to help Batman, Superman and the rest of the Justice League!

…it’s not all fun and games though: Lex Luthor, The Joker and Sinestro are also lurking within Scribblenauts Unmasked – and it’s up to Maxwell to stop their evil schemes!

Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development at WBIE explains:

Scribblenauts Unmasked includes action-packed missions with fan favourite DC Comics Super Heroes adding to the players’ puzzle solving experience as the beloved Maxwell. Challenges in the game encourage broader player choices all set in well-known locations of the DC Comics universe, interacting in new and inventive ways with a wide range of popular DC Comics characters.

You know the type of gameplay that’s in store here – but Scribblenauts Unmasked also features new, dynamically-created puzzles known as Heroic Feats. These are continuously re-generated, original scenarios, each one requiring a different solution.

But wait, there’s more – as Jeremiah Slaczka (C.E.O. and Creative Director of developer 5TH Cell) continues:

Fans of both DC Comics and Scribblenauts can really let their imaginations run wild with the Super Hero Creator in Scribblenauts Unmasked. Players will be challenged to craft new and never-before-seen characters such as Wonder Joker or Bane Lantern and use them to solve puzzles or share them with friends.

Scribblenauts Unmasked is set for release later this year for Wii U, 3DS and PC – we’re expecting to see plenty about the game at E3 next month!
