Double Fine wants distro rights for ex-THQ titles

As the dust settles after THQ‘s bankruptcy filing and subsequent auctions, it seems at least one company would like to tidy up some unfinished business. Double Fine is reportedly trying to acquire the distribution rights to former THQ titles, Stacking and Costume Quest.

Double Fine had attempted to secure the rights as early as February, but the games eventually went as part of the massive package picked up by Nordic Games in April.

As it stands, Double Fine owns the IP for both Costume Quest and Stacking, so it can make sequels and new titles within each series, but it cannot re-release the originals.

Tim Schafer tells Game Informer that his company is also trying to acquire the rights for both Iron Brigade and Brutal Legend, in an effort to have all of the studio’s IP and distribution rights in-house.
