EA's E3 will be excellent, exciting, exceptional

We knew that EA would be showing off Battlefield 4 at E3, but the publisher’s just shed some more light on just what will be on display. As well as the latest from some big-name franchises, we can also expect new titles from DICE, EA Sports and BioWare, suggesting tha the pre-Expo media briefing’s shaping up to be a doozy.

To celebrate, here’s a couple of new Battlefield 4 screenshots.

During a fourth-quarter earnings call, EA Labels President Frank Gibeau explained:

We’re planning a full reveal at E3 including more next-generation titles in development for FY14. This will include breakthroughs in graphics and gameplay for some of our biggest franchises including Battlefield, FIFA, Madden, NBA Live and Need for Speed. We plan to unveil new titles from EA Sports, BioWare and DICE and a first look at some brand new games.

Yes, he did just hint at a “new” game from DICE – could this be a sequel to Mirror’s Edge?

At the same time, BioWare has confirmed Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, but we haven’t seen anything from it yet.

One thing we do know for sure: The Frostbite 3 engine will play a big part at the Expo, with Gibeau hinting to Polygon about a new engine to be used by EA Sports. According to Gibeau, these engines are “fully functional”, and will be powering the games on display at E3.
