Pre-orders open for Diablo III on PS3

Get your pre-orderin’ boots on: Blizzard has thrown open the gates and invited you in to the world of Diablo III on PlayStation 3. We don’t have an actual date as yet (beyond “later this year”), and we don’t have confirmed “region-specific availability”, but if you want to take your chances, we’re told it’ll be worth your while.

Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment explains:

We’ve poured blood, sweat, and hellfire into creating an epic Diablo III experience for PlayStation gamers. In addition to including all the improvements from the PC version over the past year, we’ve made several updates to Diablo III for play on the PS3. We got a ton of positive feedback from players who tried the game at PAX East, and we can’t wait to get it into everyone’s hands later this year.

To tempt you even further into Sanctuary, Diablo III preorders on PS3 will grant you the exclusive in-game Infernal Helm – adding an experience point boost to any character wearing it. (There may also be other pre-order bonuses available: Check with your local retailer to confirm.)

This is, of course, a fully tailored version of Diablo III, crafted lovingly for PlayStation gamers. Boss battles have been updated, the user interface tweaked, and a new dynamic camera perspective added, promising to “make vanquishing evil feel like second nature”.

Take on the Burning Hells all by your lonesome or in a party of up to four, with any combination of online or local (same-screen) co-operative play.

Once gamers experience the rush of Diablo III’s unique brand of hack-and-slash gameplay from the comfort of their couch, Sanctuary will never be the same.

Diablo III for console was one of the worst-kept secrets in gaming, before being officially revealed earlier this year. If you don’t mind potentially waiting a little longer, you could slap down a pre-order for a different version of Diablo III, when the game finally hits PlayStation 4, as an early title.
