Blink and you missed it: Tickets to PAX Prime went on sale earlier today, and were completely sold out just five hours later. It took less than 30 minutes for the full-weekend four-day passes to be snapped up, four hours for Saturday-only, and Sunday and Friday tickets falling soon after. Predictably, the company’s ticketing system ShowClix struggled under the load, leading to many disappointed fans.
The PAX team reports:
Our partners over at ShowClix were scrambling to fix any issues that came up, and we have some solid takeaways as far as what we would do differently next year. Thank you again for your patience, and we’ll see you in August!
This year’s will be the 10th consecutive PAX Prime, held in Seattle from August 30-September 2. Events will take place “primarily” at the Washington State Convention Center, but satellite bits and pieces are expected at the Paramount, Grand Hyatt, Seattle Sheraton, Benaroya Hall and other local spots.
If you – like the vast majority of the gaming population – missed out on tickets to this year’s event, all is not lost. Organisers are still calling for Panel submissions and will later ask for Enforcers – both of which offer free entry.
