Disney Infinity invites you inside the Toy Box

Disney Infinity is shaping up to be something a bit special. While the individual character stories and experiences (Monsters U, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Incredibles, Cars) are simply beautiful, the real strength of the game lies in the Toy Box mode. Lucky for us, that’s the topic of the latest video from Disney Interactive, giving everyone a look-see at just what’s in store.

If you look closely there, you’ll see just a handful of the hundreds of characters, vehicles, items and environments that have been packed into the Infinity Toy Box – here we have a Recognizer from Tron, the Dumbo flying elephant ride (one of my favourites), and even Scrooge McDuck’s Money Pit (Woo-hoo!).

…and while these are pretty nifty little standalone objects, it’s when they are combined that the fun really starts. Use the in-game logic editor and your imagination to create the type of game (or experience) that you want to play. Want Disney Racers? Plonk down some race track blocks, add a chequered flag and a timer, and you’re set. Want King of the Hill? Conveyor belts and swinging pendulums. Or perhaps just hook up a pressure-plate switch to a firework cannon, to give you colourful explosions with just one step.

Disney Infinity has been delayed by two months, but is promising to look very, very shiny when it arrives on August 18th for Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, 3DS, PC, iOS and Android.
