For those following Obsidian’s latest, Project Eternity, a new video has been released revealing the first in-game footage of the area revealed in the Kickstarter… and for a tech demo, it is lookin’ damn fine.
For those of us who haven’t heard of Project Eternity, Knights of the Old Republic II, Fallout: New Vegas and South Park: The Stick of Truth developers Obsidian Entertainment Kickstarted a project late last year to the old school back to role-playing games. Project Eternity is set to be a 2D isometric RPG in the style of the Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale and Fallout series, headed by a variety of RPG and Black Isle alumni including Josh Sawyer, Chris Avellone, Tim Cain and more.
Though it’s just an early tech demo, a cocky Josh Sawyer states that it will “blow your mind,” and though I have to admit my head is fairly intact, I am impressed. Dynamic water and lighting in a 2D environment is not an easy feat, and Obsidian have pulled it off masterfully. I, for one, can’t wait to frolic in that stream. It just looks so fresh and inviting.
If you missed out on the Kickstarter and are interested in pre-ordering a copy and becoming a slacker backer, head over to Project Eternity‘s website.
Project Eternity is slated for release sometime in 2014.
