Bethesda shaping up for a "really exciting" 2013

Bethesda Softworks is making no secret of the fact it’s preparing for a big 2013. Vice-president Peter Hines has hinted that gamers will hear “considerably more noise” from the studio than we have in previous years, and he’s not just talking about The Elder Scrolls Online and new content for Dishonored.

Speaking with Official Xbox Magazine, Hines is deliberately vague.

I think we’re continuing to do the stuff that we get excited about, and people will get really excited about when they hear what we’re up to, which is continuing to push the boundaries, reinvent – find really smart, passionate teams who know what they’re doing and have an idea that they really want to do and do well.

The first(?) big reveal for the studio this year is something that will make gamers “sit up and take notice”, making people “really excited”. Of course, there are many, many gaming projects that could have that reaction – and fans are currently speculating wildly on just what Hines may be talking about.

Current fore-runners in the debates include a potential Fallout sequel, an official reveal for the (now next-gen) Doom 4, a resuscitation of Prey 2, another title in the Dishonored saga, or, y’know, something completely different.

We’re not sure which one we’d like to see the most, but we’re guessing we’ll find out at least some of the secret at E3, which is just over two months away.
