With all of the unexpected extra funding, Torment: Tides of Numenera Kickstarter developer inXile today announced on the project’s Kickstarter that there will be a delay to the initially announced release date of December 2014, pushing the game into 2015.
With a little under 70 hours to go at the time of writing, the Kickstarter ( which raised the required 1 million USD in just under 6 hours) has just hit $3,400,000. That’s an impressive number, and as it has climbed we’ve seen some equally impressive stretch goals reached. Writers and designers Mur Lafferty, Tony Evans, Numenera creator Monte Cook, George Ziets, Brian Mitsoda and Pat Rothfuss have all joined the T:ToN team, and with legendary Planescape: Torment lead designer Chris Avellone joining if pledges hit 3.5 million, Torment: Tides of Numenera is shaping up to be something of a dream team project for old-school RPG enthusiasts.
If you’re a fan of the original Planescape: Torment, Arcanum, Baldur’s Gate II or any other old school RPG–or even a fan of story-driven games in general–Torment: Tides of Numenera is a project to back and watch.
