Telltale Games invites you to another Poker Night

For a while now, Telltale Games has been teasing gamers with images of a “key party”, that 70s-style get-together where everyone drops their car keys into a bowl. Now, we’ve figured out exactly who’s invited, and what they’re up to. Poker.

Telltale Games’ Poker Night 2 is totally not an April Fool’s joke. It is, instead, the second in the publisher’s high-stakes card game series, jam-packed with characters we know and love – and would never have picked for poker fans.

In no particular order, we have:

  • Claptrap from Gearbox Software‘s critically-acclaimed and multi-million selling Borderlands video game series
  • Brock Samson from Adult Swim’s animated series The Venture Bros.
  • Sam from the Sam & Max video game and comic book series by Steve Purcell
  • Ash Williams from the cult classic movie Army of Darkness. Groovy!

…and, of course, there’s the dealer. This time around, we’re guaranteed a fair hand, thanks to the Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System on loan from Aperture Science… yes, Portal‘s GLaDOS is here, too.

So. It’s simple. Play poker.
The game also includes “Bounty Unlocks” – expanding its reach beyond simply Telltale Games’ Poker Night 2. There are exclusive skins and heads for Borderlands 2, “character accessories” for Team Fortress 2, Avatar items for Xbox 360 gamers, and Premium Themes for your PlayStation 3.

Dan Connors, Telltale CEO and Co-Founder explains:

It’s great to revisit our roots after the success of The Walking Dead. People might not know that we have a strong history of humor in our games and players are going to find a lot of laughs in Poker Night 2.

Poker Night 2 is another example of our ability to work with phenomenal partners and bring great characters to life in the gaming universe.

The best part of all of this is the fact that Telltale Games’ Poker Night 2 isn’t far off, hitting PlayStation Network, PC and Xbox LIVE in “late April”, with other platforms and systems to be announced. If you can’t wait that long, the original Poker Night at the Inventory is still available, starring Tycho from Penny Arcade, Team Fortress 2‘s Heavy, Strong Bad from HomeStar Runner and Sam’s offsider, Max the hyperkinetic “rabbity-thing” from Sam & Max.
