After a very long wait, The Walking Dead has made its glorious console debut in Australia, New Zealand and Brazil. This marks the first time that the award-winning series has expanded beyond the mobile market and PC in those regions – and all five episodes are now available, including the Season Pass for PS3.

In case you’ve missed all the hype, The Walking Dead is set in the world of the award-winning comic book series from Robert Kirkman, as a sort of prequel to the TV series. Events unfold that foreshadow the story of Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes. You’ll meet new faces as well as some you may remember from the books, and experience life-changing events at the hands of Telltale Games‘ master storytellers.
One of the most emotionally-charged games we’ve seen in a long time, the actions and choices you make in one episode will affect how your experience plays out across the rest of the series.
The Walking Dead was released across the rest of the world around 12 months ago, with Telltale famously admitting there were “no plans” to bring the series to Australia due to the country’s lack of an adult rating.
Sorry, but due to the OFLC ratings laws in Australia and New Zealand, and the fact that this is a mature game, we do not currently have plans to release the game there on consoles.
Now though, with the introduction of an R18+ rating, the studio felt it was safe to release the game Down Under… even though it only received an MA15+ rating, likely the same one it would have been stuck with had it been submitted for classification a year ago.
As of right now, the game is available for download on both Xbox 360 and PS3 in Australia and New Zealand, and on 360 only in Brazil – the PS3 version is due to arrive there on March 19th.
