The Mass Effect franchise as we know it is preparing to say goodbye. The saga of Commander Shepard (either Fem or Bro) is coming to an end with a massive, two-part DLC release, including the oft-rumoured Citadel.

We see our favourite Commander targeted by a “sinister conspiracy”, which lures him into new and never-before-seen Citadel locations, including the Wards and the top-secred Council Archives. Expect a “final, sentimental journey” in this last taste of single-player DLC for Mass Effect 3, signalling the return of old friends (and old flames) – no complete lineups just yet, but yes, Wrex will be there.
It doesn’t all end when the curtain falls, however – the Silver Coast Casino has been unlocked, as has the Armax Combat Arena, and you can finally exercise your right to decorate, setting up Shepard’s living quarters just the way you like them.
Before all that, though, there’s one final multiplayer blast to get through. Due out next week (!), Reckoning brings with it the Lancer assault rifle, Biotic Hammer, Venom shotgun and the Geth Spitfire assault rifle, as well as two new weapon mods – one for each side of the coin. You can also play as new classes, including the Alliance Infiltration unit, Geth Juggernaut and Female Turian Raptor.
Mass Effect Executive Producer Casey Hudson explains:
As the launch of these chapters near, the feeling around the studio is bittersweet. We hope fans will enjoy spending more time with some of their favorite characters – we have certainly enjoyed spending time creating them. We’re excited to release this final sendoff for the trilogy and move forward into the future of the Mass Effect universe.
These last updates for Mass Effect 3 are due out shortly: Reckoning on February 26th (for free!), while Citadel arrives on March 5th for $14.99 or 1200MSP.
