Gears of War: Judgment pops up on pirate sites

There’s good news and bad news today for fans of Gears of War: Judgment. Firstly, we have a brand new trailer, showing off the “Guts of War” and the game’s impressive multiplayer element. While we were dazzled by the latest adventure of Cole and Baird, however, some nefarious type was quietly uploading a seemingly-complete copy of the game to torrent sites.

So – here’s that video for you:

Gears of War: Judgment is due out exclusively for Xbox 360 on March 22nd, but it’s already (apparently) popped up on torrent trackers across the net, leading foolish gamers to play the game online more than a month before release. Publisher Microsoft, predictably, isn’t happy.

We are aware of isolated cases in which Gears of War: Judgment content has been propped on the web and are working closely with our security teams and law enforcement to address the situation immediately.

Consumers should be aware that piracy is illegal and we take vigorous action against illegal activity related to our products and services.

The statement to Eurogamer basically boils down to: You’re likely to get banned, either account or console, and potentially for life. Breaching the Terms of Use is something Microsoft takes very seriously, and we saw the company taking this sort of action against gamers caught playing Halo 4 before its official release.

Don’t think that this won’t affect you, just because you don’t play pirated games, either. The leak of an incomplete version of Gears of War 3 resulted in hundreds of gameplay videos posted online, spoiling crucial campaign plot points for fans.

If you are looking forward to Gears of War: Judgment, please avoid looking for gameplay footage or trailers on video sharing sites – even the YouTube auto-complete search bar can be rife with spoilers.
