Are you ready to get scared? Slender: The Arrival is the follow-up to last year’s cult horror smash Slender: The Eight Pages, and it’s available right now in beta form. There’s a catch: You do have to pre-order The Arrival if you want to play it now, but surely you don’t have any problems with that, right?
The Arrival is part sequel, part re-working of The Eight Pages, with a whole bunch of extra polish, like improved visuals, new interface elements, and more scares. One change is unexpected, though: In some ways, it’s actually less scary.
We intentionally designed the game to be easier than The Eight Pages. This is so a broader audience has a better chance at completion especially when we have further levels we want them to be able to progress to. But fear not, we have a ‘Hardcore’ difficulty mode for the ambitious.
If you’re up for it, you can pre-order the game and start playing the beta right away. Developer Parsec Productions has set up five different options, so pick the one that suits you. Do you want to take advantage of the 50% “Indie Friendly” discount? Maybe the Soundtrack edition, or one with high-res paintings? Of course, the standard retail price is still there for US$10, if you’re not into special bits and pieces.
All Slender: The Arrival pre-orders come with beta access right now for Windows users, while the full game is set to launch on March 26th 2013, for both PC and Mac.
