God of War: Ascension takes us back ten years before the original God of War, designed to introduce us to a “more human Kratos”. The whole piece is set to explain just why Kratos is such a cranky-pants – and this new live-action trailer should give you an extra bit of insight.
Santa Monica Studios has also released a handful of gorgeous concept art pieces, featuring appropriately mythological creatures, cities in the sky and – if you squint – a torture device or two.

While there’s never any guarantee that concept pieces will make it into the final game, God of War: Ascension does promise us new enemies and locations, so even if we don’t get these ones, there are certainly some on the way.
God of War: Ascension is due to hit PlayStation 3 exclusively on March 14th.
