Medal of Honor franchise "taking a rest," says EA

The 2012 release of Medal of Honor Warfighter will be the last we see from the long-running EA series for the foreseeable future. While the 2010 reboot of the series had done well for itself, poor sales and disappointing reviews saw the latest title performing “well under [EA‘s] expectations”.

In today’s earnings call, EA COO Peter Moore declared Warfighter‘s “focus on combat authenticity” did not grab gamers as much as the publisher had hoped.

Critics were polarized and gave the game scores which were, frankly, lower than it deserved.

This one is behind us now. We are taking Medal of Honor out of the rotation, and have a plan to bring year-over-year continuity to our shooter offerings.

Fans of EA shooters won’t miss out completely, however – while details are still slim, DICE is currently working on Battlefield 4, with a beta release due in the first half of the year.
