Last of Us demo bundled with new God of War

So. The Last of Us still isn’t out, and won’t be out until May, but if you want to get a taste of it before then, Sony has found a way. Of course, you’ll have to buy another game to snag the demo, but you were going to pick up God of War: Ascension anyway, right?

It’s not just a random, bite-sized chunk of gameplay, either. The demo for The Last of Us is an entire chapter from the game, giving you a pretty comprehensive insight into the upcoming third-person action title.

But there’s a catch.

The demo for The Last of Us will not be in the box with God of War: Ascension. There won’t be a code tucked into the case, or a USB key containing goodies. Instead, you’ll be given a sort of I-owe-you note, because there’s no confirmed date for The Last of Us demo at this stage.

Once the demo’s been released, it’s a simple matter of popping God of War: Ascension into your PS3, and selecting The Last of Us from the main menu. That’ll give you all of the necessary information – follow the instructions and you’ll be hanging out with Joel and Ellie in no time.

Sony has hinted that it is “highly possible” that other ways to get the demo will be revealed in the future, but spokesperson Eric Monacelli explains in a recent blog comment that “this is the way to get the demo the earliest”. Who are we to argue?
