Bastion narrator stars in Dota 2 Announcer Pack

Valve‘s Dota 2 has a bunch of cool features, but one we particularly like is the ability to download “Announcer Packs”, which see you customise the game by simply replacing the in-game announcer’s voice.

These have been around for a while now, and we’ve seen characters like the Juggernaut, Nature’s Prophet, the Pirate Cap’n, Dr. Kleiner and the Storm Spirit stepping up into narration duty, but today, Valve and Supergiant Games have teamed up to produce something very special.

Dota 2: Bastion Announcer Pack

Inevitable “You got some Bastion in my Dota 2” comment

Replacing both the Announcer and the Mega-Kills Announcer, the Bastion Announcer Pack features hundreds of lines of voice-over acting, all written by Supergiant‘s Greg Kasavin and read by the dulcet-toned Logan Cunningham. This is no simple undertaking, by the way – the Announcer Pack is roughly one third the size of Bastion‘s entire script!

The Bastion Announcer Pack is available right now in the Dota 2 Store, and for a measly US$9.99, you can have Bastion‘s narrator Rucks telling the story of your Dota 2 experiences as well.

…and, in case you’re wondering, as a Steam Workshop project, Supergiant Games does get a cut of the proceeds, so by picking up an Announcer Pack, you’re getting one step closer to a new game from the studio!
