It’s been one of the longest-running rumours floating around Blizzard: Diablo III, released for modern consoles. Now, it seems that this rumour may be a reality – even though the developer is still refusing to admit that it’s an “official project”.
According to Polygon, however, Jay Wilson – lead designer on the game – Blizzard has plans to “expand and add onto the game”, and is definitely “exploring console options”. Expect “the next big Diablo thing” next year, he says.
This “next big thing” may well be the Diablo expansion we heard about back in November, but the company remains tight-lipped on the specifics.
One thing that Rob Pardo, Blizzard‘s Chief Creative Officer, is happy to talk about though, is the fact that the company is “kind of exploring” the game on console (but he won’t say which one/s).
We’ve got builds up and running on it. We’re hoping to get it far enough along where we can make it an official project, but we’re not quite ready to release stuff about it, but it’s looking pretty cool.
Diablo III is out right now for PC and Mac, and has just been bumped up to version 1.05, which brought with it waves of new praise.
