If you wanted a reason to enter your game into the Independent Games Festival, Valve may have just provided you with one. The publisher has officially announced that all finalists in the 2013 competition’s main categories will be given the offer of a Steam distribution deal.
Those main categories include excellence in art, design, narrative, technicality and audio, as well as the Nuovo Award and the overall Seumas McNally Grand Prize. The Steam deal – which is optional, of course! – would make the finalists available to a 50 million member install base, quite the feat for an independent release.
It’s a bit late to enter for 2013 (there are currently 587 games entered into this year’s competition, with finalists set to be announced in mid-January), but here’s hoping Valve continues this new tradition into the future!
