Thousands of gamers will be given the opportunity to step into the world of Firefall, as developer Red 5 Studios announces a series of “Beta Weekends” – 48-hour chunks of beta access designed as a way to spread the word about the game and also to stress-test the servers.
If you like what you see, early-bird members are also being offered the new Founders Rewards program – exclusive items in exchange for helping the Tribe reach its funding goals!
Mark Kern, CEO of Red 5 explains:
We’ve seen an overwhelming demand for access to Firefall’s beta since we began testing last year. The fact is, the growing number of registered players continues to outpace our servers and with closed beta testing going into 2013 that won’t change in the short-term. These Beta Weekends are the solution. We’re inviting thousands of new players to temporarily join Firefall for some huge server stress-tests, giving us valuable feedback, giving them a taste of the game, and helping to prepare Firefall for much larger numbers.
The Tribe’s first funding goal has been achieved already (thanks to early supporters), but more funds are still needed to get Firefall properly launched. All founding members have been given Virtual Camouflage Goggles, and are well on the way to receiving exclusive “Locust”-style warpaint. A full list of unlocks, upcoming items and pledge levels can be found at the Founding Member website. Just US$20 will get you a permanently-reserved name, a Founders decal, a Tiki mask, and – the best bit? The eternal gratitude of Red 5 developers. Paying more will get you more stuff, with a $100 pledge scoring nearly $300 worth of gear.
So – if you want in on this Beta Weekend action, you’d better hop to it. The next two are scheduled for November 30-December 2 (that’s this weekend!), and December 7-9. Head to http://www.firefallthegame.com/betaweekends/ to sign up!
