Despite the fact that it has become the punchline to just about every gaming joke the world over, Farming Simulator 2013 is actually doing remarkably well for itself. Since launch, just one month ago, budding agriculturalists have downloaded more than 2 million mods for the game, and that’s only counting those picked up through the official Farming Simulator Mod Hub.

…there are plenty more downloaded via third-party fan sites and other file repositories, so developer Giants Software really has no idea just how many people are tweaking their game.
And Giants developers are getting in on the fun too, making some new mods for their own project. The most popular mod right now is the Lizard ATV off-road quad bike, which has been downloaded nearly 350,000 times. (Use it to zoom around your farm, traversing paths that are inaccessible to normal tractors.)
The secret? Farming Simulator 2013 comes packed with some hefty dev tools, so it’s easy for gamers to create – and share – new content. Thought of a groovy way to upgrade your farm? Check the Mod Hub – and if it’s not there already, why not make it yourself?!
