A smaller, more versatile — if somewhat limited — version of the Nintendo Wii has been confirmed for release by Best Buy in Canada under the name ‘Wii Mini’.
“Big Fun, for a Mini Price” is the tagline of the console, which will retail in Canadian Best Buy stores for just $99.99. Although the console will not have online connectivity, or backwards compatibility with GameCubegames, it is far more portable and can easily be packed into any bag. That does mean that none of the Wii’s online features are available, but all of the console’s 1,300 games should work perfectly.
Why it is being released in Canada and nowhere else remains a mystery.
The Wii Mini will be released on December 7th, and pre-orders should start later today.
