For the RPG fanatics amongst us, Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition has received a gameplay trailer with less than a week to go before release, and it’s looking pretty great.
The biggest visual changes that the Enhanced Edition brings to the table are the new zoom feature, allowing you to zoom in and out of the game, a new blue and gold user interface a little more reminiscent of Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn than Baldur’s Gate, as well as other graphical changes across the board. Overhaul Games have been quoted as saying over 400 bugs have been fixed, and they’ve completely overhauled the engine, adding compatibility with modern computers as well as Macs. Additionally, Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition will be making the move to iPad and Android not long after it’s release on PC and Mac–I’m very curious to see how the sometimes-finicky combat works on the smaller screen, but luckily we don’t have long to find out.
Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition arrives next Wednesday 28th November on PC and Mac, with iOS and Android releases to follow in December.
Full disclosure: I was a volunteer beta-tester on Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition.
