New iOS PokéDex app released in Japan today

Who loves Pokémon? We love Pokémon! But apparently not enough for Nintendo and The Pokémon Company to release Pokémon Zukan, the new paid iOS PokéDex, in the Western sphere.

The original 151 Pokemon. Source unknown.

Pokémon Zukan, released today throughout Japan,  is a new iOS app by The Pokémon Company in which users can browse an extensive Pokémon encyclopaedia. It’s the second Pokémon app to come to iOS, with rhythm game Pokémon Say Tap? out last year, but alas, this one looks like it’s just going to be a Japanese release, at least for now.

Pokémon Zukan costs 170 yen (~US$2) and include entries on the initial 151 Pokémon. If you want the other Pokémon, you’ll have to pay up, with four in-app purchases of 500 yen (~US$6) for a total of 1170 yen (~US$26) for the entire collection.

There are no plans for a U.S. or Australian release as of yet.
