Watch Dogs Confirmed for 2013 Release

According to CVG and Joystiq, speaking during a conference call today after the release of Ubisoft’s first-half financial results, Yves Guillemot has confirmed that Watch Dogs “will be coming in the next year,” exciting news for any who have been following the futuristic new action-adventure game.

Ubisoft is aiming to release Watch Dogs on the PC, PS3 and XBox 360, but hasn’t discounted the Wii U as an option.

Interestingly, Guillemot also stated that Ubisoft predicts the average revenue per user for most of its titles will rise over the next generation of consoles, thanks to game elements such as DLC microtransactions. Additionally, he believes that overall development costs will not rise for at least the first two years of next-gen console development, because they will be developing new and old gen games concurrently–a sentiment which was also shared by Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick earlier this week.

It’s widely expected that Sony and Microsoft will begin to unveil information about the next generation of consoles sometime in 2013.
