Rockstar Games is a big fan of tradition. On November 2nd, 2011, we were invited back into the world of San Andreas, with the first trailer release for Grand Theft Auto V. This year, it looks like the developer had planned perhaps to repeat the act, releasing another new video for the game on the same date, but – alas – Mother Nature had other plans.
(…just to remind you of what the first one was like.)
An official statement from the developer explains that the second GTAV trailer will be unfortunately delayed due to the fact that Rockstar‘s Manhattan offices are out of power in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
We are working on a second trailer – unfortunately Hurricane Sandy has derailed our plans somewhat but we will have something to show soon. Its hard to be precise as we have no power whatsoever in our New York office. We hope everyone else in affected areas is doing okay.
Rockstar is scarcely alone in this situation – more than 600,000 NYC residents are without power following the super-storm, and this isn’t meant to be fully rectified until November 10th, more than a week away.
This week did hold some good news for gamers looking forward to the release of Grand Theft Auto V – we now have a launch window, with the game scheduled for launch in the first quarter of 2013 on both Xbox 360 and PS3.
