Chances are that if you don’t already have Assassin’s Creed III, you’ll have it in your hot little hands very shortly. The most pre-ordered game in Ubisoft history hits shelves today, October 31st (for console, anyway), and while we know it’s hard to wait, the publisher has put out an advisory that you really should download the Day One Patch before actually playing.
It’s hardly a vote of confidence – and please note that it’s not an essential download. Ubisoft would like you to, however, explaining that the update squishes bugs and glitches that accidentally shipped with the game, and also “optimizes player experience and is highly recommended.”
More specifically, the update will fix a whole bunch of potentially game-breaking glitches, associated with leaving locations or areas in the game, NPC placement, and a handful of mission-specific bugs.
The problem with patching a game that nobody’s really played yet is that you can’t really detail what you’ve fixed without giving away rather a lot of the story. So, while we generally encourage you to read the patch notes, today we’ll make an exception. Don’t read the patch notes for the Day One patch for Assassin’s Creed III, they are full of spoilers.
