15 Interview: Assassin's Creed III – Ubisoft

The countdown has begun, Assassin’s Creed III is unleashed upon the world over the next 24 hours or so, with midnight launches kicking off all over the world. This time around, it’s Connor Kenway’s turn in the spotlight, as the wrist-blades take on a whole new setting: America, during the Revolution, from 1753-1783. It’s a pretty big change from what we’re used to, but lucky for us, we recently caught up with Philippe Bergeron and Julien Laferriere from Ubisoft Montreal to talk us through what’s new in Assassin’s Creed III.

We chat about Homeland, the game’s frontier setting (and the perils of creating it), why there is no Assassin’s Creed set in Canada, and what Ubisoft developers get up to after finishing a game that’s been worked on since January 2010.

Assassin’s Creed III launches for Xbox 360 and PS3 on October 31st, with the PC version following on November 20th. A Wii U version is also releasing alongside the Wii U, beginning on November 18th in North America, and November 30th in Europe.

Born Ratonhnhaké:ton, the man now known as Connor Kenway is half-Native American, half-English, a volatile mix at the best of times. The new game follows this assassin’s life for thirty years, while also featuring Desmond Miles in the present day. We didn’t talk much about Desmond, but he plays a much bigger role than he has in any previous game, attempting to prevent the 2012 Mayan apocalypse.
