If you want in on that Linux release of Steam, now’s your chance: Valve has opened up applications to jump into the beta test for the client – and if you’ve used Linux once or twice, you’re in with a chance.
Well. You probably should have used it more than just once or twice – Valve is explicitly looking for “experienced” Linux users, and this probably isn’t one to leap into if you’re not familiar with the OS.
If you are familiar with the ins and outs, however, allow me to remind you of just what’s in store with the private external beta:
- One Valve game
- Support for Ubuntu 12.04 and above
(It will not yet include:)
- Big Picture mode
- Additional Valve games
Chances are the game in question is Left 4 Dead 2, which we already know to be in Linux development, but don’t hold us to that.
After all that, if you’re still interested – and you know your way around a penguin-powered operating system, hop over to the Linux Steam Client beta application, log in with your Steam account and answer a few short questions. Good luck!
