Mass Effect film adaptation gets new screenwriter

The film adaptation of Mass Effect is progressing, slowly, with the introduction of a(nother) new screenwriter: Morgan Davis Foehl. It’s an interesting move for the project, as Foehl has never actually written a screenplay that’s made it into a finished film.

…what he has done, however, is worked as co-editor on Adam Sandler films Click and I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, as well as having one of his scripts highlighted as one of 2009’s best unproduced works.

At the moment though, he’s hoping to become better known for action / espionage films, writing the script for comic book adaptation Crosshair. He’s a huge fan of sci-fi in general, and particularly the BioWare series, and apparently that’s enough to convince the film’s producers that he is the man for the job.

They’d hopefully know what they’re looking for, too – executive producers on the film project include Casey Hudson, executive producer on the game trilogy, and BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk.

Variety reports that Foehl steps into the space left by Mark Protosevich, who had also written Thor and I Am Legend, who had been attached to the film since its inception.
