With New York Comic Con held over the weekend, it’s no surprise that there’s a neat little package of comic-related gaming news for us today. If you’re a fan of The Last of Us, Hawken, Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age or Splinter Cell, you’re in for a treat. Or a collection of treats, depending on how you look at it.
It’s the first time that Hawken and The Last of Us have been given the comic treatment, with Hawken receiving a graphic novel anthology early next year titled Hawken: Genesis, while The Last of Us graphic novel series focusses on Ellie, and her life before the game unfolds (and you know it’ll be good, with Naughty Dog designer Neil Druckman and Faith Erin Hicks on co-writing duties, with Faith also providing artwork and Rachel Edidin editing!). Penning the Hawken interpretation, we have Jeremy Barlow, who’s previously contributed books for both Star Wars and Mass Effect.
Dragon Age is being given not one but two new volumes, with third comic instalment Dragon Age: Until We Sleep arriving soon, with King Alistair waging war on the evil mage. For something a little different, The World of Thedas Volume 1 is an encyclopedia for the game, a collection of art and information tailor-made for fans of Dragon Age and touching on magic, monsters, regions, religions, and just about everything else. This one’s due out in April 2013.
Blasto, who is described as having “a lover in every port and a gun in every tentacle” doesn’t have time for your solid waste excretions. On a remote space station overlooking the Elcor homeworld… the lone Spectre puts an end to the nefarious deeds of an outlaw band of mercenaries bent on galactic-wide domination.
…and finally, as we touched on last week, Splinter Cell Echoes is a graphic novel set between Splinter Cell Conviction and Splinter Cell Blacklist, tying up loose ends and setting the tone for the upcoming shooter.
What’d we miss? Any more comic book news we need to tell gamers? Let us know!
