The Simpsons tap into free update on iOS

The Simpsons: Tapped Out has been gaining some fairly mixed reviews since it was launched earlier this year. Some of those issues were fixed when EA Mobile made the drastic decision to pull the game from the App Store due to overloaded servers, and since the recent relaunch, things have been going smoothly. And now, the game’s received its first ever FREE update.

THIS GAME IS LIFE-RUININGLY FUN! Homer accidently caused a meltdown that wiped out Springfield. D’OH! Now, it’s up to you to rebuild it! From the writers of The Simpsons, tap into a city building game that lets you create your own living, breathing Springfield… for FREE.

Yeah sure it sounds cheesy, but that’s kind of what the game’s about. On a recent flight, after we’d been given permission to turn our electronic devices back on, the guy sitting next to me did not instantly check his email, Twitter, or voicemail. He went straight to The Simpsons: Tapped Out in order to update his latest quests and collect a few more donuts.

So – in that respect at least – the game’s a success. I’m sure he’d be quite pleased with the contents of this latest update, as well:

  • New Characters – Laugh at the mishaps of others with Nelson, admire the snapdragons with Martin, and shake down kids for lunch money with Kearney.
  • New Buildings – Collect book fees with the Springfield Library, stare at Neptune with the Springfield Observatory, and collect welfare with the Muntz House.
  • New Decorations – Enjoy the elegance of the broken down washer, broken down dryer, and shooting car of the Muntz house, or plant flowers and frolic in the butterfly tent with Martin.
  • New Quests – Make Kearney dance a jig, serve detention with Nelson, and more.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out is available right now through the iTunes App Store, and – just like the update – the game’s completely free.
