Cash prizes for HyperX StarCraft II comp

Kingston has announced that the HyperX product line is turning ten years old, and to celebrate, the company is throwing a party: A free online StarCraft II tournament, with cash prizes!

It’s just part of Kingston‘s way of giving back to its customers and fans – the people who have made HyperX the memory of choice for “gamers, computer enthusiasts, overclockers and system builders”.

While the initial rounds will be held online, the StarCraft II finals will be live in Las Vegas during January’s International CES 2013. In addition to the eight competition finalists, eight pro gamers are invited to join the top sixteen, where all will battle it out for the title of HyperX Champion, as well as cash prizes adding up to US$15,000.

Scott Chen, Vice-President of Kingston‘s APAC region explains:

We have supported the gaming industry throughout the 10 years HyperX has been around and they have supported us. We wanted to create a fun event that would enable us to give back to our fans and loyal customers. This is a great opportunity for them to enjoy competing against each other and win some great prizes.

There’s no purchase necessary to enter (other than, obviously, you’ll need a copy of StarCraft II), but if you want in, you’d better be quick. Tournament registration starts today (September 17th), and only runs for ten days, closing on September 27th, 2012.

Online StarCraft II competition kicks off on October 1st and runs until November 30th, with the live final held on January 7-8 during International CES 2013.

…and the prizes? First place and HyperX Champion gets US$7,000. Second place wins US$4,500, third place gets $2,500 and fourth takes home US$1,000.

All the details, terms, conditions, information, rules, tournament structures, maps and prizes are available at, so hop to it – and good luck!
